Crowds Fill the Street for Fall Block Party

DELAVAN — Families, friends and neighbors gathered in large numbers Sunday afternoon as Common Ground hosted its Fall Block Party along Locust Street between Third and Fourth streets.

The family-friendly event drew around one-hundred participants who filled the block to enjoy a variety of seasonal activities and community fellowship. Throughout the afternoon, children and adults alike took part in pumpkin painting, gathered around a bonfire for s’mores and enjoyed live music in a festive outdoor setting.

Competitive spirits were on display as community members participated in pickleball and cornhole tournaments, while others relaxed and visited with friends and neighbors. Common Ground Bakery and Café remained open during the event, providing refreshments and serving as a hub for visitors throughout the celebration.

One of the most popular attractions for younger attendees was a building-block station organized by Adele Wheeler. The hands-on activity gave children an opportunity to express their creativity by designing and constructing their own creations, keeping young imaginations engaged for much of the evening.

Another crowd favorite came courtesy of AO’s Ice Cream Parlor, which offered free caramel apple cups to participants. The sweet fall-themed treat was a welcome surprise and quickly became a hit among guests of all ages.

As the sun began to set, families gathered around the bonfire while children proudly displayed their painted pumpkins and block-building creations. The strong turnout highlighted the community’s enthusiasm for events that bring residents together and celebrate the season.

With activities for all ages and a welcoming atmosphere, the Fall Block Party once again proved to be a successful community gathering in the heart of Delavan.
