Ayer Library to Offer Free Medicare Part D Enrollment Assistance

Residents looking to review or make changes to their Medicare prescription drug coverage can take advantage of free enrollment assistance being offered through the Ayer Public Library District during this year’s Medicare Part D Open Enrollment period.

To assist area residents, Ayer Public Library District is sponsoring free counseling sessions with Mel Clauser, a SHIP counselor and volunteer with the Central Illinois Agency on Aging. Clauser will be available by appointment on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Glenn Allen & Robert Culbertson Jr. Community Hub, commonly known as “The Hub,” located in the former Delavan Township building just south of the library on Locust Street.

Appointments will be offered on Oct. 20 and 27, Nov. 3, 10 and 17 and Dec. 1. There is no charge for the service.

Individuals attending an appointment should bring their Medicare card, a complete list of prescription medications including dosage and frequency and their MyMedicare account username and password if they have previously established an online account. Those who do not yet have a MyMedicare account can create one during their appointment.

Library officials encourage residents to complete any plan changes before the Dec. 7 enrollment deadline to ensure a smooth transition when new coverage begins Jan. 1, 2027.

To schedule an appointment, call the Ayer Public Library District at 309-244-8236.
