The Delavan FFA is once again encouraging neighbors to help neighbors through its “Feed the Farmer” program, a community outreach effort built around generosity, accessibility and local support.

The donation-based event was held from noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 18 and will be held again from noon to 6 p.m. on Oct. 3. Organizers emphasize that the program is open to everyone in the community, not just farmers, despite what the event’s title might suggest.

The concept behind Feed the Farmer is simple: provide access to food and other useful items while inviting participants to contribute what they are able. The event operates under the motto, “Take what you need, give what you can,” reflecting the FFA chapter’s goal of helping community members support one another in a practical and meaningful way.

According to Delavan FFA member and organizer Mason Zeigler, the event is entirely donation-based. There is no admission fee or required contribution to participate. Instead, community members are welcome to take advantage of available resources while offering a donation if they are able to do so.

Zeigler noted that the program is intended for all residents, not exclusively those involved in agriculture. Organizers hope that broad community participation will help strengthen local connections and ensure that individuals and families who may need assistance feel comfortable attending.

The Feed the Farmer initiative reflects the values long associated with FFA programs, including service, leadership and community engagement. By creating an opportunity centered on generosity rather than transactions, organizers aim to remove barriers and make assistance available to anyone who can benefit from it.

The event is being coordinated by a committee of Delavan FFA members, including Mason Zeigler, Egan Westbrook and Nolan Winter. The trio has worked to organize the program and spread awareness throughout the community.

Organizers encourage residents to stop by during either event date to learn more about the program and participate in the spirit of giving. Whether attendees are looking for needed items, hoping to make a donation, or simply wanting to support a community-minded effort, Feed the Farmer offers an opportunity to come together and help one another.

The program serves as another example of local students putting FFA’s mission of service into action while making a positive impact in the Delavan area.
