DELAVAN – Around 75 people attended the Delavan Quilt Guild’s quilt show at Christ Lutheran Church during the community’s Fall Festival, enjoying an impressive display of handcrafted quilts while celebrating the artistry and generosity of local quilters.

One of the event’s most memorable moments came when the guild presented a handmade quilt to veteran Brittany Thousand, who recently moved to Delavan. The surprise gift reflected the guild’s ongoing commitment to honoring those who have served in the military.

Guild member LeAnn Ryan explained that supporting veterans is something the organization strives to do whenever possible.

“We try to give a quilt to a veteran any chance we get,” Ryan said. “One of our members heard she was a veteran and said, ‘Too bad we didn’t have a quilt for her.’ I looked over, and my quilt for the show was on the pew. I said, ‘We do,’ and we presented it to her to thank her for her service.”

The heartfelt presentation drew appreciation from those attending the show, highlighting the sense of community that has long been a hallmark of the Delavan Quilt Guild. For Thousand, the unexpected gift served as both a warm welcome to her new hometown and a token of gratitude for her military service.

In addition to showcasing dozens of handmade quilts, the guild also held a quilt raffle during the event. Attendees had the opportunity to purchase tickets for a chance to take home one of the beautifully crafted creations. At the conclusion of the raffle, Sandy Kerrington was announced as the winner.

The quilt show combined craftsmanship, community spirit and gratitude, making it a memorable highlight of Delavan’s Fall Festival.
