DELAVAN — After 18½ years of service, Delavan Township Supervisor Richard Bottenberg is retiring from office as he and his wife, Marge, prepare to relocate to Emden next month.

Bottenberg has served as the township’s chief elected official since 2008, overseeing township operations and helping guide local government through nearly two decades of change and growth. Township officials and residents have praised his long commitment to public service and his dedication to the community.

Following Bottenberg’s retirement, Township Trustee JoAnn Beymer will assume the role of supervisor.

The transition comes as another township official departs. Trustee Aaron Sundell is also leaving the board as he and his wife, Kathy, prepare to move to Green Valley.

The departures of Bottenberg and Sundell will leave two Democratic trustee positions vacant. Township officials are expected to begin the process of filling those vacancies in the coming weeks.
