Delavan Battles Through Busy Three-Game Stretch
Delavan battled through a challenging three-game stretch this week, dropping contests on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Despite the results, the Panthers continued to get competitive efforts from key contributors as they moved to 4-19 on the season.
In Monday’s 11-3 loss, Corbin Soldal turned in one of Delavan’s strongest individual performances of the week. He struck out six over 4.2 innings while allowing just one earned run on four hits, and he also contributed at the plate by going 2-for-4 with a stolen base, a run scored and an RBI.
Tuesday’s 3-2 loss to Olympia was Delavan’s closest game of the three and featured some of the Panthers’ best defensive work of the week. Center fielder Corie Green made two outstanding diving catches, left fielder Grady Burrell added a sliding catch, and Delavan also turned a perfectly executed double play on a ground ball to third baseman Cameron McMullen, who threw to second baseman Drake Neuendorf for the first out before the ball was relayed to first baseman Lyndon Miller to complete the play.
Delavan also got balanced offensive contributions in the Olympia game, with three players recording at least one hit, including Trace Kight-Garlisch, who went 1-for-2 and scored a run.
On Wednesday, Delavan closed the stretch with a 9-5 loss, showing continued fight while wrapping up a busy week of competition. Across the three games, the Panthers saw encouraging efforts on the mound, timely hitting from multiple players and signs of resilience despite the difficult stretch.
Delavan enters its next matchup with a 4-19 record and will look to regroup at home Monday against Roanoke-Benson/Lowpoint-Washburn.
