Robert L. Vannaken, Sr

Bob was born on August 27, 1937 in Delavan to the late Edward Grant and Geraldine L. (La Master) Vannaken. He married Pamela Willis on August 10, 1985 in Creve Coeur, IL.

He worked at Caterpillar in multiple positions for 38 years, and eventually retired on February 1, 1999. After his retirement he worked as a Sales Representative for Industrial Tooling for 10 years.

Bob was a Mason and a Shriner for over 60 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He loved going for drives in the country, taking back roads.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Pam; his children, Robert (Bob) Lee (Michelle) Vannaken, Jr., Deborah Vannaken; and Grant Vannaken; his grandchildren, Delavan Vannaken and Rene Vannaken; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of friends. They will dearly miss him.

He is preceded by his parents, and his siblings, Harold Vannaken, Caroll Ann Allgood, Ronald Vannaken, Gary Vannaken and Mary Vannaken.
A Visitation was held on Monday, May 4, 2026 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Funeral Service the next day, on May 5, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria, IL. Sheila and David Ducommon will be officiating. Committal will take place in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan.

Memorial contributions in honor of Bob can be made to the Shriners Hospital in Chicago or donor’s choice.
