Boosters Club Launches New Annual Scholarship

The Delavan Boosters Club has introduced a new annual scholarship program designed to support DHS student‑athletes who plan to continue competing at the collegiate level. With two long‑running athletic scholarships nearing closure, Boosters leaders saw an opportunity to ensure that future Panthers pursuing higher‑level athletics would continue to receive meaningful financial and community support.

Any senior student‑athlete who intends to participate in their IHSA sport or activity in college is eligible to apply. Applications are available through the DHS counseling office. Selection criteria extend far beyond athletic performance alone, with the committee reviewing academic achievement, leadership roles and involvement in both school and community.

This inaugural year, the Boosters Club awarded scholarships to two outstanding student‑athletes: Drew Robison and Annabelle LaFary.

Drew Robison

Robison, who will continue her running career at Concordia University Wisconsin, competed in volleyball, track and cross country during her time at DHS. She earned academic honors, participated in numerous extracurricular activities and served as team captain in every sport she played. Her accomplishments ultimately earned her a place on the DHS Wall of Fame after medaling at the State level in multiple running events.

In her application, Robison reflected on her team’s 8th‑place finish at the IHSA Cross Country State Meet—an achievement made even more meaningful after narrowly missing qualification two years prior. She wrote that the moment was unforgettable because it marked her final race with her teammates and coaches: “I will always be grateful and never forget my time as a student‑athlete at Delavan High School.”

Annabelle LaFary

LaFary, who recently completed her season at the University of Jamestown, was a standout in both track and cross country at DHS. She earned high academic honors, captained both of her teams, and held leadership roles in FFA, serving as President and Sentinel. Her relay teams qualified for State every year, and she broke multiple school records during her high school career.

In her application, LaFary emphasized the pride she felt representing a small school: “Growing up in a small school, I learned that being a Panther is more than just competing. It is about taking pride in what you are doing, caring for your teammates, and representing Delavan with heart, whether I’m on the track or in the classroom.”

A Strong Start to a New Tradition

The Boosters Club expressed pride in launching the scholarship with two recipients who exemplify the values of dedication, leadership, and Panther spirit.

Congratulations to Drew Robison and Annabelle LaFary—the first-ever recipients of the Delavan Boosters Club Scholarship.
