Panthers Fall to Brimfield
The Delavan Varsity Panthers softball team ran into a tough Brimfield squad on Thursday, falling 11–0 in five innings despite several bright spots at the plate and steady defensive effort.
Brimfield built an early lead with runs in each of the first three innings, capitalizing on a mix of timely contact and aggressive baserunning. A solo home run in the fifth helped seal the visitors’ advantage.
Delavan starter Mia Mammen battled through all five innings in the circle, working around 13 hits while striking out one and issuing three walks. She kept her composure throughout, limiting further damage in several innings and giving the Panthers chances to respond.
Offensively, Delavan collected four hits on the day. Cameron McDaniel, Kara Lowry, Addi Fisher, and Karsyn Kramer each recorded a hit, with Fisher continuing her consistent presence in the lineup. The Panthers put runners aboard in multiple innings but couldn’t string together the timely hits needed to break through.
Defensively, Delavan stayed sharp, making routine plays and preventing extra bases where possible against a Brimfield lineup that applied pressure throughout.
The Panthers now turn their attention to a fresh opportunity at home. They’ll host the Princeville Varsity Princes on Monday.
