Mia Mammen winds up on the mound during an earlier game this season, showcasing the steady presence that continues to anchor the Panthers’ defense.

Delavan Panthers Break Loose in Fifth, Roll to 6–1 Victory

Delavan’s bats came alive late as the Varsity Panthers powered past ROWVA/Williamsfield 6–1 on Friday, delivering a strong home-field win built on patience at the plate and timely hitting.

After two quiet innings, Delavan struck first in the bottom of the third when Addi Fisher worked a bases-loaded walk to push across the opening run. That early spark set the tone for a breakout fifth inning that put the game firmly in the Panthers’ hands.

Delavan erupted for five runs on four hits in the fifth. Fisher ripped a two‑run single to center, Mia Mammen followed with an RBI single, Nola Houston forced in another run with a walk and Cameron McDaniel capped the rally with a run-scoring groundout. The Panthers showed discipline throughout the night, drawing six walks and keeping pressure on the Cougars’ defense.

Mammen was steady and composed in the circle from start to finish. The right-hander scattered eight hits and allowed just one run over seven innings, striking out three and issuing no walks. Delavan’s defense backed her with clean play, including a key double play that halted a potential Cougars threat.

Fisher led the offense with two hits and two RBI, continuing her strong presence in the middle of the lineup. Charlie Green added energy on the basepaths, swiping two bases to help manufacture scoring opportunities.

With the 6–1 victory, the Panthers continue to build momentum as they head into another home matchup. Delavan hosts LVC on Monday as they look to keep their winning rhythm.
