Panthers Walk-Off Midwest Central in a 5–4 Thriller
The Delavan Varsity Panthers delivered one of their most dramatic wins of the season Thursday night, rallying in the bottom of the seventh to secure a 5–4 walk‑off victory over the Midwest Central Raiders.
Delavan entered the final frame trailing 4–3, but the Panthers refused to let the game slip away. Corbin Soldal ignited the comeback with a solo home run to left field, his second blast of the night, tying the game and sending a jolt through the home crowd. Moments later, Hunter Lusher stepped to the plate and ripped a two‑run double, driving in the winning runs and sealing the walk‑off celebration.
The Panthers’ offense was steady throughout the night, piling up 12 hits. Soldal was unstoppable at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a homer, two singles, and two stolen bases. Grady Burrell also turned in a three‑hit performance, while Hudson Briggs added two hits of his own. Cameron McMullen provided an early spark with a two‑run home run to left field in the bottom of the first, tying the game after Midwest Central opened the scoring on a dropped third strike.
On the mound, Corie Green set the tone with a dominant start, striking out 11 over five and two‑thirds innings while allowing just two hits and two runs. Burrell earned the win in relief, giving up one hit and two runs—only one earned—across one and one‑third innings, striking out two.
Delavan’s aggressive baserunning also played a key role, with the Panthers swiping four stolen bases to keep pressure on the Raiders’ defense.
With timely power, clutch hitting and strong pitching, the Panthers showcased resilience from start to finish—capped by Lusher’s game‑winning swing that sent the home crowd into a frenzy.
