Three Panthers Earn All-Area Honors From Clutch Sports Media

Green, LaFary, and Brinkmeyer Honored

Delavan Cross Country continues to make its mark on the regional running scene, with three standout athletes earning recognition on the 2025 Clutch Sports Media All-Area Team.

Junior Corie Green was named to the First Team for Boys Cross Country, capping off a season defined by speed, consistency, and championship-level performances. Green, the reigning Class 1A state champion in the 800 meters, dominated the fall circuit with four major victories and all-state honors. He placed eighth or better in every race he entered, claiming titles at the Class 1A Petersburg PORTA Regional, Elmwood Sectional, Western Illinois Invitational, and Elmwood Invitational. Green broke the 15-minute barrier three times, including a personal-best 14:50.6 at regionals, and closed the season with an eighth-place finish at the Class 1A State Finals in 14:52.2.

Senior Annabelle LaFary earned Second Team honors for Girls Cross Country after leading the Panthers with a season of grit and leadership. LaFary posted six top-10 finishes, including runner-up performances at both the Delavan Panther Invitational and the Western Illinois University Invitational. Her fifth-place run at the PORTA Regional (17:55.1) helped Delavan secure the team title, and she followed with a sixth-place finish at the Elmwood Sectional (18:11.1). LaFary wrapped up her high school cross country career with a 35th-place finish at the Class 1A State Finals in 18:16.6, guiding the Panthers to an eighth-place team showing.

Sophomore Elyse Brinkmeyer was recognized with an Honorable Mention for Girls Cross Country, rounding out a season of growth and promise. Her contributions helped solidify Delavan’s presence at the state level and reflect the depth of talent within the program.

Together, Green, LaFary, and Brinkmeyer exemplify the strength of small-school athletics and the heart of Delavan’s running tradition. To see the full list of honorees, visit Clutch Sports Media’s Boys All-Area Team and Girls All-Area Team articles.
