A New Season, a New Squad
Meet the 2025-26 Varsity Lineup
The gymnasium at Delavan High School was buzzing with energy Friday night as fans packed the bleachers for the annual “Meet the Panthers” event—a spirited evening that celebrated the past, present, and future of Panther basketball.
Following a lively and nostalgic Alumni Game that brought former players back to the hardwood, the spotlight shifted to the 2025–26 Varsity Boys Basketball Team. One by one, the new squad was introduced to enthusiastic applause, with each player stepping onto the court to the cheers of family, friends, and community members.
This year’s team is a youthful but promising group, featuring freshman Micah Berfield; sophomores Hudson Briggs, Grady Burrell, Trace Kight-Garlisch, Hunter Lusher, and Drake Neuendorf; juniors Coriell Green, James Pagel, and Corbin Soldal; and senior Nick Glisson. Head Coach Dan Hansen returns to lead the team, supported by assistant coaches Jake Green, Philip Jones, Josh Lake, and Rich Urish.
After introductions, the team split into two squads for a spirited scrimmage. The Home team, donning white jerseys, included Berfield, Glisson, Green, Pagel, and Soldal. The Away team, in purple, featured Burrell, Briggs, Kight-Garlisch, Lusher, and Neuendorf. In a fast-paced and competitive matchup, the purple squad edged out a 28–23 victory, giving fans a taste of the talent and tenacity this young team brings to the court.
Adding to the evening’s excitement, the Delavan Cheer Squad was also introduced. Led by sophomore captain Mia Mammen, the squad includes freshmen Abbie Beal, Kaylynn Cisneros, Ellie Goff, Embree McWhorter, and Emma Ross. Under the guidance of Coach Megan Hansen, the cheerleaders brought high energy and Panther spirit to the event, setting the tone for the season ahead.
Coach Hansen acknowledged the youth of his team but expressed confidence in their potential. “I promise you we are going to go into every game and play hard,” he told the crowd. “Come out and watch us play—we’re going to surprise some people.”
With heart, hustle, and a community behind them, the 2025–26 Panthers are ready to make their mark. Let the season begin.
