Two Delavan High School sophomores have earned regional recognition for their standout golf seasons, with Grady Burrell named to the Clutch Sports Media Boys All-Area Second Team and Trace Kight-Garlisch receiving an honorable mention.
Burrell’s selection comes on the heels of a breakout season that showcased both consistency and competitive fire. He capped the fall with a tie for 22nd at the Class 1A State Finals, carding rounds of 79 and 78 at Prairie Vista Golf Course. His path to state was paved with top-tier performances, including runner-up finishes at the Tri-Valley Regional (73), Tomahawk Conference Tournament (74), and Inter-County Conference Tournament (72). He also placed 11th at the Jacksonville Routt Sectional with a 78 and took third at the Ray Toland Invite hosted by Petersburg PORTA, shooting a 76. Burrell’s season scoring average of 75.4 over 18 holes speaks to his precision and poise on the course.
Kight-Garlisch, also a sophomore, earned honorable mention for his contributions to the Panthers’ strong season. While Burrell often led the charge, Kight-Garlisch provided depth and reliability, helping Delavan remain competitive across conference and postseason play.
With two underclassmen already making waves in the area golf scene, the future looks bright for Delavan’s program. Both Burrell and Kight-Garlisch will return next season with experience, accolades, and momentum.
