Power Restored After Sunday Morning Outage
A brief but widespread power outage affected Delavan residents early Sunday morning, August 10, leaving homes and businesses without electricity for nearly two hours and disrupting several weekend routines.
According to Ameren officials, the first report of the outage was received at 7:06 a.m., prompting the utility company to dispatch two vehicles to the Delavan Power Substation. One crew was assigned to inspect and repair distribution equipment, while a second line truck equipped with a boom lift was sent in case overhead line repairs were needed.
Both vehicles arrived at the substation shortly after 8:00 a.m. Upon inspection, Ameren technicians determined that the issue stemmed from malfunctioning distribution equipment within the substation itself. The line truck was deemed unnecessary and left the scene.
Repair crews worked swiftly to restore service, completing the necessary fixes by 9:00 a.m. Power was fully restored to affected areas shortly thereafter.
The outage disrupted several Sunday morning activities, including church services across town and the popular Sunday Morning Breakfast at the American Legion hall.
Ameren has not yet released details about the specific cause of the equipment failure, but no injuries or safety hazards were reported during the incident.
