An installer from Central Illinois Light & Signs secures a new LED fixture in the lower level of Ayer Library as part of a no-cost energy upgrade through Ameren Illinois’ efficiency program.

Ayer Library Brightens up With Upgrade

The Ayer Library is shining a little brighter these days—literally. Thanks to a generous partnership between Central Illinois Light & Signs and Ameren Illinois, the library has received a full upgrade to energy-efficient LED lighting at no cost to the facility.

The lighting retrofit, completed on Thursday, August 8, is part of Ameren’s Energy Efficiency Program, which helps public institutions reduce electricity usage and lower utility costs. Central Illinois Light & Signs facilitated the installation, replacing outdated fixtures throughout the building with modern LEDs designed to improve visibility, reduce maintenance needs, and cut energy consumption.

The Ameren initiative targets libraries, schools, and other public buildings across central Illinois, offering incentives and direct installation services to help facilities transition to more efficient systems. For Ayer Library, the change is expected to reduce monthly energy costs—freeing up resources for programming, materials, and other community services.

Library staff say the brighter, more consistent lighting has already made a noticeable difference for readers, researchers, and families who use the space daily. The upgrade also aligns with broader efforts in Delavan to modernize public facilities while embracing environmentally responsible practices.

Residents interested in learning more about Ameren’s Energy Efficiency Program or similar opportunities for local organizations can visit AmerenIllinoisSavings.com for details.

With its shelves now bathed in crisp, energy-saving light, Ayer Library continues to illuminate minds—and now, with a little extra glow.
