Legislative Aide Hosts Mobile Office Hours at City Hall

Delavan residents had a unique opportunity to connect directly with state resources on Tuesday, August 5, when Dana Smith, Legislative Aide to State Senator Sally Turner, held mobile office hours at City Hall from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Smith, who retired from her role as DeWitt County Clerk in 2022, had served the public for many years before stepping away from elected office. During her tenure as clerk, she worked closely with Sally Turner, then Logan County Clerk, forming a professional relationship that deepened over time. After Turner was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 2020, she invited Smith to join her legislative staff following Smith's retirement—an invitation that Smith readily accepted.

As a legislative aide, Smith served as a conduit between constituents and Senator Turner, helping residents navigate the complexities of state government. Her responsibilities included organizing mobile office hours throughout the 44th Senate District, meeting both elected officials and community members to discuss local and state-level concerns

Before arriving in Delavan, Smith hosted mobile office hours earlier that same day in the village of Minier, continuing her tour through the district. During her visits to Delavan, Smith met with several local leaders and spoke with residents about pressing issues—from agricultural initiatives and infrastructure projects to educational support and rural development needs. These conversations often paved the way for deeper engagement with Senator Turner, ensuring that Delavan’s voice was well-represented in Springfield

No appointments were necessary, and Delavan residents were given the opportunity to raise questions and seek assistance.

Additional mobile office hours in Delavan are planned. Residents are encouraged to check the Delavan Dispatch for dates, locations, and further details.
