Blooming Creativity: Library Hosts Flower Arranging Workshop
The Ayer Library Summer Reading Program added a touch of floral flair to its schedule this week, hosting a hands-on flower arranging class led by local floral artisan Sarah Flint of Farm on Third. Held in the library's community room, the workshop welcomed a vibrant group of participants eager to explore the art and science of floral design.
Flint, known for her handcrafted bouquets sold at the Tremont Farmers Market and featured at Common Ground Bakery, began the session with a live demonstration. She introduced attendees to foundational concepts in flower arranging, including composition, balance, and the interplay of warm and cool color schemes. Assisting with the event was Natalie Lessen, who helped guide participants as they transitioned from observation to creation.
Participants included Kelly Watts, Pam Sydney, Cassidy Griffith, Lauren Bond, Lainey Bond, Michelle Noreuil, and Tori Noreuil, each crafting a personal floral arrangement using locally grown blooms. The atmosphere was one of concentration, joy, and creativity, as attendees layered colors and textures to reflect their own style.
Following the workshop, leftover flowers found new life in fresh arrangements now on display at Common Ground Bakery—extending the beauty and inspiration of the class to the wider community.
Feedback from attendees was glowing. Many described the experience as “a super fun, creative way to express yourself and your talents,” highlighting the value of such community-based arts programming.
The flower arranging workshop exemplifies the Ayer Library Summer Reading Program’s broader mission: cultivating learning through diverse, hands-on experiences. With Sarah Flint’s guidance and the enthusiastic spirit of participants, the event was not only informative—but also a fragrant celebration of creativity and connection.
