Rapid Progress on Parking Lot Resurfacing Highlights Township Meeting
The Delavan Township Board of Trustees convened on July 16 for its regular meeting, where trustees expressed surprise and satisfaction at the swift completion of phase one of the township parking lot resurfacing project.
“I didn’t expect it to move that fast,” commented one trustee, echoing the consensus around the table. With the first phase wrapped up ahead of schedule, the board turned its attention to another infrastructure update: replacing the salt shed’s exterior siding.
In a unanimous vote, the trustees approved $6,650 to purchase ribbed corrugated metal siding panels for the shed, opting to match the façade of the township office building. The price tag came in higher than anticipated, prompting candid remarks from Trustee JoAnn Beymer. “That’s a big bite,” she noted. “But I don’t see we have a choice.”
To ensure timely completion, the board added a caveat that the siding be installed no later than November 30, 2025.
In other business, trustees voted to contribute $500 to the Delavan Fall Festival Committee. The donation, while approved unanimously—with Trustee Kevin Kendregan recusing—was lower than previous years due to rising infrastructure costs. The board emphasized its continued support for community events even amid budgeting challenges.
