Legion Installs New Leadership
American Legion Post 382 in Delavan installed new officers during its July meeting, marking a leadership transition within the organization.
Nicholas Georgi was sworn in as Post Commander. In this role, Georgi oversees the full operation of the Post, including management of the kitchen during the monthly Chicken and Fish Dinners and the weekly Sunday Breakfasts. Steve Aleshire, elected Senior Vice Commander, assumes the Commander’s duties when necessary and primarily focuses on expanding and managing memberships within the Legion. Jessica Laws, Junior Vice Commander, steps into leadership in the absence of both the Commander and Senior Vice Commander, and concentrates on the planning and coordination of Post social events such as the annual Memorial Day Fishing Derby, the Christmastime Breakfast with Santa, and the Halloween Party.
Two former Commanders also continue their service in new capacities: Mike Dixon now serves as Post Chaplain, and Ed Hart has taken on the role of Post Judge Advocate. Diane Aleshire serves as Post Finance Officer.
The leadership transition highlights Post 382’s focus on attracting younger veterans and fostering future engagement. By placing a new generation in key leadership roles, the Post aims to strengthen its connection with recent service members and create programs that reflect the interests and needs of today’s veteran community.
On Saturday, July 12, the new leadership team participated in the monthly Chicken and Fish Dinner hosted at the Legion. Officers supervised operations, greeted attendees, and assisted with food service throughout the evening. Christy Hart, a longtime leader of the Legion’s kitchen crew, was on hand to show the newly installed officers the ropes and help keep the meal running smoothly.
Held on the second Saturday of each month, the dinner features two-piece and four-piece meal options of chicken, fish, or a combination of both. The two-piece dinner is priced at $8, while the four-piece dinner costs $12. Fish fillets—pollack from Lincoln IGA—and chicken from Beecham’s Market in Tremont are served with baked beans, potato salad, a biscuit, and a slice of chocolate or white cake. Lemonade and iced tea are available as beverages.
For anyone who missed this month's Chicken and Fish Dinner, the kitchen crew invites you to stop by for the weekly Sunday Breakfasts, where the coffee flows and the community gathers, every Sunday from 6:30 am until 10 am.
