Dedication and Inaugural Concert at Performing Arts Venue
Music lovers are invited to a special evening of celebration and melody as the Pekin Park Concert Band kicks off its 98th summer season with a dedication and inaugural concert at the newly built Steven D. Skinner Performing Arts Venue. The event will take place on Sunday, June 22, at 6:30 p.m. in Mineral Springs Park.
Named in honor of longtime band director Steve Skinner, a Delavan resident who has led the ensemble for 32 years, the venue stands as a testament to community generosity. The facility was made possible through contributions from numerous individuals, organizations, and patrons.
The Pekin Park Concert Band, founded in 1927, features 38 talented musicians from the area. Audiences can expect a delightful repertoire ranging from marches and show tunes to movie themes, classical selections, and novelty pieces.
The concert, like all summer performances, is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, as permanent seating is unavailable. Mineral Springs Park offers accessible parking and facilities. Should inclement weather arise, the performance will be relocated to the Miller Center within the park.
