Delavan Police Apprehend Suspect
Wanted in Multiple Cases
Authorities arrested a suspect on Sunday afternoon following a foot pursuit in connection with multiple ongoing investigations.
At approximately 1:52 PM on May 18, a Delavan Police Department officer was in the 300 block of W 3rd Street responding to a violation of a court order. During the investigation, Wallace McCreary was identified as the suspect in both the court order violation and an additional case involving multiple residential burglaries.
Upon being approached, McCreary fled on foot, prompting a pursuit. The Delavan Police Department, with assistance from the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office and the Illinois State Police K9 Unit, successfully apprehended McCreary and transported him to the Tazewell County Jail. He was booked on preliminary charges, including Residential Burglary, Theft, Criminal Trespass, Violation of a Stalking No Contact Order, and Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer.
During the pursuit, a Delavan Police Officer sustained injuries. Thanks to the Delavan Ambulance Service and first responders, the officer received immediate medical care at the scene before being transported to a local hospital, where they were treated and later released.
