Panthers Win Two in a Row

The Delavan Panthers showcased their dominance with two impressive victories this week, bolstering their season record to 6-7. On Wednesday, they triumphed over the Midwest Central/Illini Central Raiders with a decisive 8-2 win, followed by a commanding 17-0 shutout against the Peoria Heights Patriots on Thursday.

Panthers star pitcher Lainey Klokkenga delivered an extraordinary performance both on the mound and at the plate. She struck out six batters over two innings, yielding no hits, walks, or earned runs. Klokkenga has maintained a streak of at least five strikeouts in her last ten appearances. Her offensive contribution was equally stellar, going 4-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBIs.

Mia Mammen complemented Klokkenga by pitching one inning without allowing any hits or earned runs, reinforcing the Panthers' defensive dominance.

Nola Houston was a standout at the plate, achieving a career-high with three runs from three hits, including two doubles and one triple. Jayley Fisher added to the Panthers' offensive onslaught, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs, two runs, and a triple.

Delavan's consecutive victories highlighted their exceptional pitching and powerful batting performance. Throughout the two matches, the Panthers allowed only two runs in total, demonstrating their defensive chops.

Looking ahead, Delavan is set to face El Paso-Gridley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. With the Titans struggling to contain batters this season, allowing an average of 12.67 runs per game, the Panthers are poised to capitalize on this weakness.
