Hopedale Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine, in collaboration with Hopedale Medical Complex, announced Makenna Diekhoff from Delavan High School as the March Athlete of the Month.

Makenna, a standout leader in both the volleyball and softball teams, has been recognized not only for her athletic prowess but also for her exceptional work ethic, positive attitude, and leadership qualities. Her nominator praised her as a role model for younger players. Academically, Makenna excels with a 3.98 GPA and holds the position of Senior Class President. She also actively participates in the drama club, speech team, and student council. Within her community, Makenna serves as a worship leader for the junior high and high school youth groups.

The Athlete of the Month program, run by Hopedale Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine, involves nominations from athletic directors and in-season coaches from partner school districts. Nominees are required to excel not only in sports but also in scholarship, leadership, character, and community service.

As part of her recognition, Makenna will compete for the title of Athlete of the Year in May. Should she win, she will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Hopedale Medical Foundation to support her further education. Hopedale Medical Complex and Hopedale Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine are committed to continuing this prestigious tradition with Dee-Mack, Delavan, Hartsburg-Emden, and Tremont school districts throughout the 2024/2025 sports season.
