Arrenholz Leads Panthers Over Altamont 5‑1

Arrenholz Leads Panthers Over Altamont 5‑1

In a standout performance on the mound, left-hander Braden Arrenholz, number 14, led the Delavan Panthers to a triumphant 5-1 victory over the Altamont Indians on Thursday at Robert E. Smith Field of Greenville University. Arrenholz delivered an exceptional game, striking out 11 batters while allowing just three hits and one run over six and two-thirds innings.

Bryson Horning, number 22, was brought in as relief in the bottom of the seventh inning, with two outs and a runner on first. Horning only threw three pitches, all strikes, to end the inning and the game.

The Panthers took an early lead in the first inning, capitalizing on an error to score their first run. The Indians quickly responded in the bottom of the inning with a single to center field by Cooper McManaway, which brought the game to a 1-1 tie.

Delavan regained the lead in the second inning, thanks to a dropped third strike that allowed a run to score, making it 2-1. The Panthers never looked back, steadily expanding their lead.

Offensively, Colton Miller, Arrenholz, and Corbin Soldal each recorded two hits for the Panthers. Miller and Arrenholz also contributed an RBI each. Kelton Nafziger displayed discipline at the plate, leading the team with two walks as Delavan amassed a total of seven walks in the game.

The Panthers look to continue their winning streak as they face the Dee-Mack Chiefs at home this Saturday.
