Panthers Crush Rebels 10-0
In a stunning turn of events, the Delavan Panthers rebounded from a bruising defeat at the hands of the Brimfield Indians to deliver their own 10-0 shutout against the Astoria/VIT Rebels on their home turf.
The Panthers dominated the game from the outset, taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the first inning and maintaining their momentum throughout. Their performance was marked by exceptional pitching, fielding, and batting, leaving the Rebels unable to mount a serious challenge.
Star pitcher Lainey Klokkenga led the charge with a standout performance, striking out ten of the nineteen batters she faced and allowing only two hits. Klokkenga also showcased her offensive chops, leading the team with three hits, including two doubles, and scoring one RBI.
Catcher Jayley Fisher was a defensive powerhouse, ensuring that no pitch slipped past her and executing fast bunt retrievals that halted the Rebels' advances twice. Fisher also contributed offensively, scoring one run on one hit and recording one RBI.
Sophomore Addi Fisher added to the Panthers' offensive success with her second triple of the season, driving the ball deep into left field and positioning herself to score one run.
Senior Miley Harper, while not scoring a run herself, played a crucial role with two hits and two RBIs, helping to extend the Panthers' lead.
Senior Joselyn Soldal was flawless at the plate, reaching base three times with one walk and two hits, and driving in two RBIs.
Looking ahead, the Panthers are hoping to continue their winning streak as they prepare for their next matchup against Seymour on the road.
