Delavan resident Zoie Viner emerged as the winner of the American Legion Post #382 Mother’s Day raffle drawing. The event took place on April 6th at the conclusion of the regular Sunday morning breakfast service at the Legion Hall.

Viner's prize package included a towel and blanket warmer, assorted fragrance rings, bath and shower bombs, and a luxurious blanket and towel set. These items were generously donated by various community members.

The raffle is part of a series of fundraising efforts to support the Legion's annual Kids Fishing Derby, scheduled for May 24th during the Memorial Day weekend at Lake Park in Delavan. Funds raised will help stock the ponds with 1,000 pounds of catfish, provide souvenir t-shirts for each participant, and offer a lunch of hot dogs and chips. Last year's derby attracted around 76 participants.

Gordon Rush, the event's chair and a Legion member, stated, "It's a lot of work, but we do it all for the kids."

In addition to the Mother's Day raffle, a similar event was held on March 2nd, where Art Westbrook won a Weber Grill donated by Ace Hardware and a $30 gift card from ValuCheck in Pekin. Another raffle is planned for May, with a prize of a 28” Blackstone Propane Grill.
