Students Host Pre‑Show Dinner
The Delavan High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) served up more than just spaghetti at their annual fundraiser last Friday evening – they dished out community spirit. Held in the school cafeteria, the event drew a steady crowd, including students, parents, and local residents.
Hosting a dinner before each performance of the Spring Musical is a tradition at DHS, but this was the first year the FFA/FCCLA sponsored the event.
Organized and led by seniors Kyi Westbrook and Jaylen Brackney, the event was staffed by members of both student groups, under the supervision of faculty adviser and DHS agriculture instructor Theodore Allen.
Guests enjoyed hearty spaghetti dinners, complete with garlic bread and salad, for a ten-dollar donation. Proceeds are dispersed into the organizational accounts for each of the student volunteers who worked the event, and are used to pay for field trips, conferences, and other group activities.
The menu changed for the dinners before the performances held on Saturday and Sunday. Replacing the spaghetti were grilled hamburgers and hot dogs.
